Inmate captured after escaping from Pasighat prison

PASIGHAT: One of the seven under trial prisoners (UTPs), who escaped from Pasighat Judicial Jail, was captured by the police on Tuesday with the help of a local youth from Mirbuk Village here.

The arrested inmate has been identified as Kalen Apang.

The escaped convicts sprinkled chilli powder on the prison guards on duty when the lock-up was opened for dinner in the evening hours.

They also assaulted one of the head constables, who sustained minor injuries and was later sent to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, an operation is on to nab the remaining inmates, stated the police.
