ITANAGAR: The Tea Board of India in collaboration with the state department of trade and commerce organized an export-oriented seminar and exhibition at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre here.

The event organised on Friday was supported by the Union ministry of commerce and industry, official sources informed here on Saturday.

The event was organized following prime minister Narendra Modi's call at the recent NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting for each state to focus on promoting the 3Ts of Trade, Tourism, Technology and a call for the states to focus on reducing imports, increasing exports and identifying opportunities for the same in every state.

The main objective of the seminar was to orient the participants with the essentials of the exportation process supplemented by a sound understanding of techniques related to matchmaking between Arunachal Pradesh's products potential and foreign country demand, effective handling of the export barriers and as well as opportunities, procedures related to export documentations with the dissemination of the trends and technologies of packaging along with showcasing of exportable products & produces of the state.

State trade and commerce secretary Hage Tari extended his gratitude to the central government for assigning the Tea Board of India as the lead agency for organizing the event here.

He said that the scenario today in terms of trade has gone beyond commercial relationships to maintaining a strategic partnership.

Tari said that since the Centre's strategy is to increase exports through geography and products, the state government is taking all measures to promote exports.

Indian Institute of Plantation Management director Dr Rakesh Mohan Joshi, highlighted the economic scenario of the export market potential in the country and the northeastern states.

He said that an export cell should be set up in the state which will cater to the specific subject of exports.

Tea Board of India's executive director Arunita Phukan Yadav said that the central government is driven to bring sustainable promotion of export and create an environment conducive to export in the country.

She said that endeavours are being made to create awareness to ensure active cooperation and work in close coordination with the state governments and central government to create a roadmap to facilitate the export of products from the state.

Trade and commerce director Sonyung Modi stressed the importance of generating awareness about the export promotion which holds the promise for rapid and self-reliant growth in a country like India.
