GUWAHATI: The ITBP is celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas at its North-East Frontier HQ Itanagar. Banners have been displayed in Itanagar and other parts of Arunachal Pradesh. On Monday, photo galleries and short movies were showcased in the ITBP campus, Khating Hill, exhibiting the contribution of the forces in national security. On Tuesday, a 5-km ‘Run for Martyrs’ was organized. Despite the heavy downpour, the event was led by IG, ITBP. All officers and other ranks of North-East Frontier HQ ITBP participated in the event. It was a befitting tribute to the martyrs, stated a press release.
Recently On July 23 a ‘run for martyrs’ was organized by 33rd Bn ITBP at Sonapur to pay tributes to the courage, valour, and sacrifice of the martyrs’ of Kargil War. Sh Fayaz Khan, second-in-command, as the chief guest flagged off the event at Sonapur. The event received a good response as 38 boys and 7 girls from Rajdhani Public School, Sonapur and Sonapur College turned up for the 5-km race. Ten officers and 100 men of 33rd Bn ITBP also participated in the race, a press release said.
In the boys’ category, Vikas Bhum of Sonapur College won the race. He was followed by Sambhu Vishwas of Rajdhani Public School in the 2nd place and Kamdev of Sonapur College in the 3rd place. In the girls’ category, Neelema Deka of Sonapur College emerged the winner, followed by Constable Rajeshwari of 33rd Bn ITBP in the second place and Barsha Boro of Sonapur College in the 3rd place.
