Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu asked the qualified candidates of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE), who have been in protest to wait till the court hearing scheduled on November 14. Khandu suggested the candidates do so after convening a meeting at his office chamber on Monday.
The Chief Minister stressed that since the matter has been sub-judiced in the High Court, the candidates have to wait till the Court hearing.
Regarding the candidates who claimed to have not been able to attend the mains examination of the APPSCCE due to the protest, the Chief Minister observed that these issues, along with others, need to be considered.
Notably, the APPSCCE qualified candidates have been staging protests demanding to conduct the examination in an environment conducive to all the candidates. Earlier, the candidates alleged that the majority of them could not appear for the examination due to ‘mental trauma’. As such, the candidates have demanded to re-conduct the mains examination by including the qualified aggrieved candidates.
Since the APPSC has gone through with conducting the general studies and English/essay exams, the candidates appealed for further examination process to be halted in order to avert more damage to the aspirants.
Taking cognizance of the issue, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday called for re-conducting the APPSCCE mains examination altogether. The APCC also appealed the State’s Governor, State cabinet and the APPSC to cancel the entire examination exercise, and suggested bringing in experts to strengthen the commission.
“The APPSC, which is supposed to be an independent and statutory body, has become an institution upon which the candidates have lost their faith,” the APCC said. The APCC also sought scrutiny of all the members and staff of the Commission.
In the meantime, the APPSC filed an FIR at the Itanagar police station on Monday regarding the alleged question paper leakage of General Studies-I.
