ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik has praised the Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for taking concrete initiatives to resolve the long-standing inter-state boundary issue. Parnaik, who is on a two-day visit to Assam, made the comment during a meeting with his Assam counterpart, Gulab Chand Kataria, at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati on Saturday. He opined that a conscientious approach will strengthen the long-standing friendship among the people, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed here. The two leaders also deliberated on various opportunities for collaboration between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for mutual benefit.

Parnaik proposed increasing cultural and educational exchange programmes to promote the rich culture of the region among the youth of both states. The governors exchanged ideas on preserving the natural environment, biodiversity, and archaeological treasures that are integral to the identity of the region. They stressed the need to expedite the implementation of development projects that will contribute to the overall progress and well-being of their respective populations, the communiqué added.
