Itagar, Sept 18: In a public meeting held, under the banner of the Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), at Mirem village on Saturday on the vexed issue of Lower Siang district, a unimous decision was taken to reject the recommendation of the Group of Ministers, which recommended to part a portion of the Adi area up to the Simen river and to be included it in the Lower Siang district.

The house opined that the recommendation was made without taking into account the administrative convenience, historical facts and traditiol ownership of the land.

After having threadbare discussion the house, in presence of PRI leaders, Gaon Burahs, ABK Apex, ABK Advisors, ABKWW, ABKYW, AdiSU and general public, has resolved not to part any portion of the Adi area up to the Simen river and said that it would not agree on being included in the Lower Siang district.

Urging the ruling government not to undermine the sentiments of the Adi people, the house unimously decided to organise an Adi Solidarity Day on September 21, against the Group of Ministers in all the Adi-inhabited areas by peaceful means, which shall be spearheaded by the ABKYW and AdiSU.

Condemning the creation of districts on commul basis, the meeting observed that if such commul blend policies are adopted, the same shall create chaos and social disharmony.

It further resolved that all Adi-elected representatives, especially the MLAs and those who are in the Council of Ministers, to abide by the said decisions, according to a release issued by the ABK, East Siang district.
