ITANAGAR: The State press fraternity has condoled the demise of Kameju Ningee, father of The Hindusthan Samachar reporter, Tagu Ningee, who passed away at his Hollongi residence during the wee hours of January 1. Coincidentally, Ningee was born exactly hundred years earlier on 1 January 1920, at Changha Village (near upper Hollongi Village).

Ningee at his youth had actively participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942 at Gohpur, Assam alongside freedom fighters from Assam – Kanaklata Baruah and Mukunda Kakoty, who were shot dead during the agitation by a British police officer stationed at Gohpur, Assam.

Members of the Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) and the Arunachal Electronic and Digital Media Association (AEDMA), prayed for the bereaved family members.

Ningee’s mortal remains were laid to rest on Friday with full indigenous rituals and honour at his Hollongi residence. He is survived by his wife, seven sons, three daughters and several grand-childrens.
