ROING: A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee on Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) and District Task Force on Immunisation and District Quality Assurance Committee was held in the presence of ADC Tapik Pertin, DMO Dr R Tatan, DDSE Ego Doye, representatives of WCD and PHE departments, programme officers and MOs of the district here on Thursday. Pertin, addressing the gathering, said that during the monsoon season, contaminated water is one of the main cause of illness and spread of diseases, so all precautions should be taken. He advised the departments to spread awareness, which he said is very essential.
The ADC also emphasised on the need to provide clean water to schools as it is essential for sanitation purposes and cooking and serving of mid-day meals to students.
Dr Tatan and DRCHO Dr Raju Mena also spoke on the occasion, giving the overview of IDCF, the government’s decision to include rota virus vaccine under routine immunisation and constitution and functions of the District Quality Assurance Committee. The DRCHO explained about the activities to be undertaken during the IDCF – distribution of ORS sachets and awareness creation to all families with children under 5 years, IPC activities on sanitation and hygiene, hand washing demonstrations in schools, etc.
