ITANAGAR: Chairman of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Arunachal Pradesh, PD Sona has said that the valedictory event of the one month-long celebration will be held at the outdoor stadium at Yupia on the occasion of State's 36th Statehood Day.

Addressing the media at the APSLA conference hall on Monday, Sona said that due to some uncertainty, logistics management and time, the decision to celebrate the day in the erstwhile five districts - Kameng, Subansiri, Siang, Lohit, and Tirap - on the same day had to be revoked.

However, the celebration will be held at Yupia outdoor stadium with a maximum of 7,000 spectators. Moreover, besides formal programs, different cultural events, workshops, symposiums and seminars etc., will be held from February 16 to February 19.

"The numbers of spectators had to be decreased due to the recent COVID protocol. The stadium can accommodate 15,000 people, so at least 7,000 will be allowed on the day as per the COVID guidelines," he said.

He also informed that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Bollywood actor and brand ambassador of the celebration Sanjay Dutt will be gracing the valedictory function as chief guest and special guest respectively, on February 20.

"With every workshop, seminar and other literary activity, there will be cultural events in the evening performed by the local artistes from the North-East. Likewise, on the culmination day, the agency and the village council members will be felicitated during the formal programme," he said.

The open concert in the evening will start with the performance of Indian playback singer and performer Jubin Nautiyal, he added.

He said the two major themes of the celebrations are, 'Celebrating Past and Nurturing Future' and 'Say No to Drugs'. The committee has ensured that the theme 'Celebrating Past and Nurturing Future' is being properly carried out through various activities.

"The promo video on the theme 'Say No to Drugs' by Sanjay Dutt was sent to us earlier. As the video was in general, we have asked the team to make the video specific in context to our State which can connect with our youths," he said, also informing that there is no such cut in the budget of celebration as it was already planned precisely.

Therefore, the budget of the month-long celebration remains the same, he added.
