Miao: Arunachal Pradesh's Minister for Urban Development, Kamlung Mossang on Friday inspected the under-construction Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at the Miao sub-division, which is to be completed by the end of 2022.
Speaking to the reporters, Mossang informed that for the last many years the people of Miao have been facing the scarcity of potable water. However, the WTP, which has the capacity of more than 10 lakh litres after completion, will provide sufficient potable water to more than seven thousand populace of the Miao sub-division.
When asked about the estimated project cost of the WTP, Mossang informed that the project is under the PHED&WS department with a cost of Rs 28 crore. The work was awarded in the year 2020 and was supposed to be completed in June, 2022 next.
"However, due to COVID-19 pandemic the construction agency is a bit behind the completion schedule. We are continuously monitoring the project, and as of now the progress of work is satisfactory," he said.
Mossang also informed that by the end of this year the project may get completed and assured that the water crises of Miao town will be completely resolved by next year.
"Moreover, we are also focusing on small sources to supply water in various colonies of the township and have also arranged two water tankers to provide waters as per the requirements of the public to mitigate the problems," he added.
