ITANAGAR: Union Minister Ajay Bhatt on Wednesday appreciate the civil-military bonhomie in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh which he termed as an example for the country.
The Union Minister of State for Defence who visited the border district on Wednesday and received the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (the Victory Flame) at Tawang War Memorial, said that wherever there is Indian army, they always keep good relation with civil population and extends their helping hands whenever needed.
"The local population and Army combine makes a beautiful bouquet of flower and they should cooperate each other in developmental activities," the minister said while paying tributes to the martyrs, a report from district information and public relation officer (DIPRO) said.
The Minister who had also interacted with the army Jawans in the forward locations of the district during the day, informed that the spirit of the personnel posted in such areas is high.
"You should be ready to serve the nation and the future of the country lies in your shoulder," the minister said as an encouraging note during the interaction, the report said. Bhatt also encouraged the NCC cadets to join the Indian Army.
The Minister earlier, paid tributes to the martyrs of 1962 Sino-Indian conflict at Jaswant Garh and Bumla and later visited the world famous Tawang Monastery and offered prayers.
Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi briefed the minister and the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Eastern Command on joint land re-assessment for army establishment in the district.
The mashaal reached the border district on Monday travelling all the way from New Delhi last year.
The 'Swarnim Vijay Mashaal' symbolises India's victory over Pakistan in 1971. The celebration of 50 years of the victory — Swarnim Vijay Varsh — was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16, last year. Four victory flames lit from the eternal flame at National War Memorial are being carried throughout the cities and villages across the nation, including the villages of Param Vir Chakra (PVC) and Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) awardees of 1971 war. The victory flame has been sent to four cardinal directions of the country and will converge back at New Delhi in December this year.
