DIGBOI: "Though I am a Tangsa, also known as a Naga MLA, I did not allot an inch of government land within the constituency to any of the Nagas in the Tirap-Changlang-Longding (TCL) region," said MLA Somlung Mossang of Bordumsa-Diyun Assembly constituency in the Changlang district.

Independent legislator Mossang, in his speech in a mass joining programme at Diyun on Thursday afternoon, came down heavily upon his predecessor. He said that several plots of government land in Diyun Circle were allotted to people outside the district. According to him, the act not only dealt a blow to infrastructural development in the constituency but also posed a threat to local people.

"Even the areas already earmarked for the construction of government installations close to government institutions and offices were also not spared," alleged Mossang.

"Had I not strongly perused the matter for the sake of community interest immediately upon assuming office as the MLA in Bordumsa-Diyun in 2019, the scenario would have been disastrous today," he said.

Meanwhile, around four hundred people from more than six villages in Diyun's Upper Block with various national and regional party affiliations shifted their allegiance to the Independent MLA.

Various key leaders from different communities belonging to independent parties across the constituency also witnessed the merger, wherein the legislator accorded a warm reception to the new joiners, endorsing their willingness to join his camp.

More than four thousand people from various opposition camps have joined the Independent Team since December 2021.
