DIYUN: While the competent Government authority has been striving to assess the damage caused by the recent cyclone across Bordumsa-Diyun for providing official relief, local MLA Somlung Mossang on Tuesday took stock of the cyclone-affected areas and visited the relief camps at Diyun to boost the morale and confidence of the affected people.
On April 14, severe storms, torrential rain and strong winds caused damage to homes, downed trees, caused power supply outage and damaged crops.
Somlung Mossang visited the affected families of Innao Pather and Sompoi to assess the situation and extent of damage caused.
He also took stock of the situation at Jyotsnapur and adjoining areas, where around 12 families are temporarily sheltered in a Government school building.
He also informed that a board comprising of Government officials was constituted to assess and verify the quantum of loss and damage due to the cyclone, and accordingly the process of compensation will follow.
Mossang announced phase-wise immediate disaster relief for the families rendered homeless due to the cyclone, which include one quintal of rice, 20 kg of potatoes, 10 kg of dal, two litres of edible oil etc., in the first phase, followed by monetary assistance in the second phase based on extent of damage caused.
Meanwhile, he appealed to the citizens to stand together with the affected families and help them with all possible assistance to rebuild their homes.
