Mock exercise on quake and landslide conducted by DDMA

ROING: A mock exercise on earthquake and landslide scenario was conducted today by the DDMA, under the assistance and guidance of NDRF, Itanagar, at 'The Heritage Academy', Meka here.

Among the dignitaries present during the occasion were SDO Rebeca Tayeng, Deputy Commandant( NDRF), DDMO Tsering Ngurup, heads of departments, Administrative Officers, Incident Response System teams of the district, community volunteers and the teachers and students of the school.

The NDRF displayed the procedures followed after a disaster; the rescue efforts; the methodical search-and-rescue operations; evacuation of victims; types of equipment and its use; use of canine teams; rescue in multi-storied buildings, and rope rescue etc., were demonstrated on the day. The fire-brigade team demonstrated the processes of extinguishing fires during fire accidents.

The SDO also gave away certificates to the community volunteers who had undergone training at Pasighat.
