PASIGHAT: MLA of Pasighat East, Kaling Moyong attended 'Mopin' -- the harvest festival of Galo community, at GTC Siying Gangging near here.

Addressing the gathering as a chief guest, Moyong said that Mopin is an age-old festival celebrated since time immemorial which reflects the rich repository of traditions, culture and mythology that need to be passed down to the future generations of Galo community.

"Mopin is an agricultural festival celebrated for a good harvest, good health, peace & prosperity.

''I pray the almighty Donyi-Polo for peace, brotherhood and bumper harvest in the years to come," Moyong said while appreciating Central Mopin Celebration Committee (CMCC) for celebrating the festival in such a grand way.

Assuring the masses that a common community festival celebration hall will be constructed at GiidiNotko, Moyong appealed to the younger generation to retain the age-old tradition, culture and practices.

Extending festival greetings, general secretary, AdiBaaneKebang (ABK) OkomYosung assured to bear the cost of a 'Mithun' for next year's celebration. He also called for protection and preservation of own customs, folklore, dances and traditions.

Among others, Chief Councillor of Pasighat Municipal Corporation (PMC) OkiamBorang and people from all walks of life joined the celebration.
