National Deworming Day launched in Papum Pare district

Itanagar: The National Deworming Day (NDD) was launched in Papum Pare district on Saturday. The programme was launched by District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr Subu Tasso Kampu at Community Health Centre (CHC) Doimukh in the presence of DRCHO Dr Worar Taku, DANO Dr Tania Raju, Medical Officer Dr Lobsang Chuki and the staffs and local beneficiaries.

Briefly speaking on the occasion, Dr Kampu highlighted about NDD programme and awareness on deworming and called upon the medical officers to actively monitor and supervise all ANMs, ASHAs and AWWs in the implementation of NDD programme and ensure that no beneficiary is left out.

She also urged upon all including ASHAs, Aganwadi workers and ANMs to work with missionary zeal at a community level in order to achieve better performance in compared to last year 94 per cent coverage in the district.

Dr Kampu also stressed upon giving more awareness to people on doses, benefits and its negligible effects besides calling for maintaining proper health and hygiene to avoid worm infestations. She also administered Albendazole tablets to children.

National Deworming Day is observed to deworm all children aged 1-19 years to improve their overall health, an official communique informed here.
