ITANAGAR: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended a hardcore insurgent of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) during a joint operation, police said here on Monday. The rebel, identified as Captain Khilpong Jugli (47), a self-styled town commander of the outfit, was arrested from the Nadipar area of Changlang district during a joint operation on Sunday, Changlang Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo said.

The joint team of district police and the 149th battalion of the CRPF, under the supervision of SP, apprehended the militant, who is a resident of Old Shallang village in the district. He was associated with the NSCN-K for a long time before he joined the NSCN-R in 2019, the SP said, adding that the arrested rebel was also wanted in multiple criminal cases in the district.
