Itanagar: Many residents of Capital Complex have taken a dig at Itanagar Municipal Council for its failure to lift garbage piling up along the NH-415, questioning the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.

Interestingly, former Itanagar Municipal Council Deputy Councillor Tarh Nachung, when asked, said there are no councilors since the first term expired on June 10 last year.

“Though IMC election should have been conducted by the State Government within six months, the Capital Complex DC being the administrator of IMC, should discharge his duties; but seemingly he is in deep slumber,” Nachung said.

“I questioned the IMC after receiving many queries about clearing garbage. On inquiry, I learned that the IMC authorities have not been issuing fuel coupons and there are no funds to pay wages to sanitation driver and employees,” he said and resented the utter negligence.

If the present DC is not interested, former DC Prince Dhawan, who had played an important role in making IMC effective, should be brought back, Nachung said and made a fervent plea to the government to intervene as capital is the mirror of the State.
