RONO HILLS, (DOIMUKH): A one-day workshop was conducted by the Department of Geology, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on “Career Opportunities as Geologist” on Tuesday. The programme was attended by Prof Saket Kushwaha, Vice-Chancellor of RGU, Dr PK Singh, Director, GSI, Itanagar and Hiruj Saikia, geologist, GSI, Itanagar as resource persons. Dr AA Laskar, HoD, Department of Geology in his welcome address informed that it was the first ever workshop by the department which is still at its infancy stage. The programme was a result of constant guidance and encouragement of Vice Chancellor Prof Nisamani Kar, coordinator Dept. of Geology, Dr Boa Reena Tok coordinator career counseling cell, RGU and the efforts of the staff and faculties of Department of Geology, he added. He also said the workshop is to encourage the students to set an aim in pursuing a career in geology which is not popular among the students of Arunachal Pradesh.
