ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally of Arunachal Pradesh rose to 16,812 on Tuesday as one more person tested positive for the infection in the Northeastern State, a health department official said.

The fresh case from East Siang district was detected through rapid antigen test, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

A total of 1,075 health workers have received shots of COVID-19 vaccine in the first couple of days of inoculation in the State.

Jampa said 891 people were vaccinated on January 16, the opening day of the nationwide inoculation programme, and 184 received the jabs on Monday.

The State has received a total of 32,000 doses of Covishield vaccine from the Centre till now.

Two more persons were cured of the disease on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,699. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State currently stands at 99.32 per cent, Jampa said. Arunachal Pradesh now has 57 active cases, and 56 people have succumbed to the infection so far.

West Kameng district has the highest number of active cases at 25, while Tawang and Changlang have five each. The Capital Complex region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has 13 active cases.

The State has so far conducted 3,87,691 sample tests, including 400 on Monday, the official said, adding that the positivity ratio is at 0.33 per cent.

A list of 23,505 healthcare professionals, including 3,867 vaccinators and 483 health workers from Indo-Tibetan Border Police, has been uploaded on CoWin, a digital platform for monitoring the inoculation exercise, he said.

Around 28,000 frontline workers also registered their names on the portal.

The State has 195 cold chain points for storage of COVID-19 vaccines, the official added.
