ITANAGAR: An organization in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh has alleged substandard and poor-quality construction work on a vital road in the district. The youth wing of the Upper Legong Banggo Kebang has alleged that the construction work on the Pasighat-Ledum-Tene Road in between Remi Bridge and Korang, with a total distance of 20 km being constructed by Asean Agencies, with an estimate of 29.87 crore, is of poor standard and demanded that the executing agency reconstruct the road.

A monitoring committee of the organization while inspecting the road on Saturday in between Remi, Mirem and Bilat, along with PWD officials, alleged low standard of construction and demanded the agency to stop the work immediately. The president of the organisation, Daniel Padung, who made a physical survey of the road, alleged that it is not being constructed as per the specification mentioned in the detailed project report.

The organization further alleged that the road was renovated recently but, due to poor quality of work, got damaged within a month. PWD's Assistant Engineer had earlier written to the executing agency about the substandard work and poor quality of the road and also instructed the contractor to follow the DPR while constructing the road.
