PASIGHAT: The Pasighat local MLA Kaling Moyong has deeply appreciated the participation and response of the denizens of East Siang district in the massive clean-up drive on the theme "Our River, Our Responsibility" for rejuvenating the city's perennial stream/rivulet, Paane Korong. The natural rivulet, which flows through a major portion of Pasighat city to join the Mighty Siang River, has borne the brunt of pollution over the years.

Kaling Moyong in particular dwelt on protecting water bodies from plastic and non-biodegradable waste polluting our rivers and streams, which are our lifelines, and stressed the need to rejuvenate urban rivers and streams to their pristine glory through the collective efforts of all stakeholders concerned. He expressed positivity that in the coming days the entire 3.6 km stretch of the Rivulet will be rid of all the pollutants by the Pasighat Municipal Council with the able support of the District Administration through more of these initiatives involving maximum public participation.

Amongst others, the cleanup drive event was attended by the Chief Municipal Councillor, PMC's Okiam Moyong Borang, the Deputy Chief Councillor, PMC, and people from various walks of life.

The CEO of Pasighat Smart City Corporation, Dr. Manjuli Komut, sought the support of the public for proper disposal of garbage through PMC's sanitary garbage truck and designated dustbins to keep our city and surroundings clean and green. M/s Sri Ram Enterprises, M/s Purvanchal Enterprises, and M/s Agam Construction contributed generously to the event by providing machineries, materials, and manpower, which was acknowledged by the PSCDCL authority.

"The event was organized by the Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation in collaboration with Pasighat Municipal Corporation and East Siang District Administrations as a part of the continuation of a series of activities under ‘Pasighat –Amrit Utsav: 100 Cities – 100 Events, an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, under the Azadika Amrit Utsav Campaign.
