Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday asserted that no stone will be left unturned to organize the Parshuram Kund Mela on January 14 in a befitting manner. The mela is being organized every year on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Chairing a review meeting for all preparatory activities related to the mela at Tezu in Lohit district, Mein said that Parshuram Kund Mela is an historic and important festival celebrated in the State every year.
Calling upon the organizers to provide a new look to the mela and make it a grand affair, Mein sought the cooperation and coordination from all the stakeholders in order to successfully conduct the annual mela.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged the members to dedicate their time and workforce to ensure that the mela is a grand success. He directed the working departments including PHED, PWD and Power to ensure timely completion of their entrusted work.
“Energy of the youth need to be channelized in a positive direction”, Mein said and asked the organizers to engage them during the festival to provide job opportunities to the local youths.
Tezu MLA Karikho Kri in his deliberation said that Parshuram Kund is the pride of the district with historical and religious significance attached to it.
He requested the Deputy Chief Minister to accord State Festival status to Parshuram Kund Mela in the line of Dambuk Orange Festival and Tawang Festival.
Important issues like traffic control, maintenance of law and order, overall management of the function, prohibition of sale of liquor and non-vegetarian items, regulating flow of devotees were discussed elaborately in the meeting.
Later, Mein also chaired a meeting on organizing the golden jubilee celebration of Tamladu Festival at Tezu.
The meeting was also attended by Lohit DC Prince Dhawan, SP Dr DW Thongon and all the administrative officers and heads of departments and members of Parsuram Gram Seva Samiti, an official communiqué informed.
