PASIGHAT: President of the Pasighat Market Association, Obyak Ering, a highly respected personality, passed away on Sunday afternoon at his residence. He was 88 years old. Ering is known for his immense contributions for socio-cultural development of Adi society in particular and his deep attachment with people of all walks of life of the century-old town Pasighat.
He is survived by two sons, four daughters and many grandchildren. He was the brother of Late Dr Daying Ering (Union Deputy Minister for Agriculture).
Obyak was also the first Congress president of Arunachal Pradesh and served as secretary of Bogum Bokang and various social organizations to serve humanity. He was serving as the president of the Pasighat Market Association at the time of his demise.
Ering was born in 1933 in Roing village of Pasighat in the East Siang district. He was the son of Late Padi Ering (father) and Late Susok Ering (mother).
Dr Daying Ering's son and Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering said: "The entire Ering family is deeply saddened by the demise of Obyak Ering ji. After demise of my father, we were all looked after by uncle Obyak ji. We have again become orphans now. May his soul rest in peace."
