Prisoner found hanging in police lockup in Lohit distrct of Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: An under trial prisoner reportedly "committed suicide" at a police lock-up in Lohit distrct of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning, police informed on Sunday. The prisoner, against whom kidnapping and illegal confinement case was registered at the Tezu Police Station in Lohit district, died by committing suicide in the lockup of the police station at around 7:30 am on Saturday, Lohit superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Wangdi Thungon informed. "The prisoner died by hanging himself inside the lockup," the SP added. Dr Thungon added that the police personnel of Tezu police station, who were on duty during the incident, have been suspended. The deceased was Dilbar Hussian, a native of Karimganj in Assam, who was working in a local garage at Tezu, the district headquarters, the added SP.
