ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Passang Dorjee Sona on Sunday lauded the Tagin community for making tremendous progress in the field of education, business and other fields.

Speaking at the fifth conference of Tagin Welfare Society (TWS) of the Capital Complex, the Speaker said that the Tagins have made remarkable progress in the field of education and produced a huge number of human resources for the State and others can learn from them.

Stating that the Tagin community, being one of the largest tribes, is also contributing immensely to the socio-economic development of the State, the Speaker commended the roles of apex Tagin Culture Society (TCS) and TWS for bringing a lot of positive changes in the society.

Sharing his views on the roles and significance of community-based organizations for peaceful co-existence and social reforms in the society, the Speaker called upon the TCS and TWS to come forward and play a proactive role in promoting pan-Arunachal for peaceful and harmonious growth of the State.

Stressing on education, which he said is the only tool to bring positive changes in the society, the Speaker called for value-based education for the younger generations.

He said that education without value is meaningless.

Meanwhile, as requested earlier by the MLAs of Upper Subansiri to take up the strategic Tato-Taliha road at the highest level for its early construction, Sona said that road connectivity being the veins of developments, it needs to be taken up on priority basis. He suggested that the MLAs should sit for a meeting to chalk out the ways.

Among others present on the occasion were Taliha MLA Nyato Dukam, Daporijo MLA Taniya Soki, Dumporijo MLA Rode Bui, TCS president Larji Rigia (Dukam) and a host of dignitaries.
