ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh tourism department organized a training programme on 'Designation management and home stay hospitality' involving the local communities, home stay operators, tour operators and other stakeholders.
This is a first-of-its-kind tourism awareness programme in the district. The department started the 'Tourism for All' drive by revisiting destinations and reviewing hospitality with a view to motivate and prepare the stakeholders to overcome the post-COVID-19 situation for the reopening of tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
Three new destinations - Tuting, Yingkiong and Anini - have been covered by this motivational workshop to promote home stays with a motive to reach the unreached. It is after almost 24 months that tourism is reopening in the State, officials said.
In the pre-pandemic period, the department trained and involved several local youths from rural areas in the field of tourism and many among them received benefits under the 'Mukhyamantri Paryan Vikas Yojana', who as tourism stake-holders had been assets for sustainable rural development in the State.
Officials said that 28 people attended the training conducted in collaboration with the Association for Conservation & Tourism and Arunachal Pradesh for Education Development led by Deputy Director for Tourism, Bengia Manna Sonam, resource person Raj Basu, advisor of Tourism for the state, Sunil Chauhan and filmmaker Pankaj Trivedi along with a team of resource persons from SFCI Itanagar. The entire programme was coordinated by District Tourism Officer-in-charge, Anung Lego. The participants agreed that Anini has the scope of being developed into one of the finest tourism destinations in the State with adventure, culture and nature-based tourism.
