ITANAGAR: Concerned with the problem faced by the people of Capital Complex in Itanagar due to the delay in the completion of a bridge at Division-IV, capital SP Tumme Ammo in a letter to the Executive Engineer (EE), PWD capital division-A, has asked the department to construct a temporary log bridge for plying of Light Motor Vehicle (LMV).
Ammo said that due to the delay in completion of the bridge, it is not only causing inconvenience to the public but also results in heavy traffic jams from Vivek Vihar to Bank Tinali. Meanwhile, responding to the SP, Executive Engineer PWD said that the department along with the contractor is pressing hard and working on a war footing to complete the bridge within two months. The EE informed that the bridge will be motorable by mid-September this year. Regarding the temporary log bridge, the EE said that it will not be feasible as space is not available for the construction.
“In fact, it is difficult to construct a log bridge for the pedestrians as we have to request landowners for the same and moreover fund is not available to construct such a bridge,” the EE said adding that even if the fund is provided it will be wastage of government exchequer. Earlier, the SP had also written a letter to the EE, PWD capital division-B for the restoration of ESS sector to Hotel Donyi Polo Ashoka, the EE National Highway Division to take immediate measures to ease traffic congestion by immediately constructing dividers and potholes to be filled and clearance of block points.
