ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik on Tuesday joined the Statehood Day celebration of Sikkim organized at Raj Bhavan, here.

The Governor, on behalf of the people of the state, greeted the people of Sikkim and conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to them on their 48th Statehood Day. Parnaik said that Sikkim has delivered exemplary performance in tourism, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and organic agriculture and horticulture, an official communiqué informed here.

The Governor, who served in Sikkim during his service days, said that there are a lot of similarities between Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh as both the states share a pristine natural environment, tourism potential and religious establishments of a very similar nature. Parnaik exhorted the Sikkimese brethren to imbibe the spirit of celebration, traditions and customs of the Arunachali society and take back good memories of the state. He also advised them to take part in adventure sports, trekking and physical activities.

The participants presented cultural items on the occasion. They also shared their experience in Arunachal Pradesh and said that the state is a second home to them.
