Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) celebrate Its foundation anniversary

Itanagar: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) will celebrate its 37th foundation anniversary at its campus in Rono Hills, near here from February 3 next. It is for the first time that the university is observing a two-day mega anniversary celebration. Former Chief Minister Gegong Apang will grace the occasion as the chief guest on February 3, a press communique informed here on Saturday. He will also inaugurate the academic building of the physics department here. The varsity will also honour Apang for his immense contribution in gaining the status of central university. On the second day, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra and will attend the function as chief guest. While Prof G C Tripathi, chairman, Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and former VC, BHU will deliver the foundation anniversary address on the topic “Role of Education in Nation Building”.

The Governor will also give away the awards for exceptional achievement by university students on the occasion.

To mark the foundation anniversary, RGU is also organizing several activities, such as, essay writing, volleyball, football, marathon and other literary and athletics competitions, the communique added.
