ITANAGAR: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday issued notification for holding elections to the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Arunachal Pradesh which will fall vacant on June 23 next.

Polling would be held on June 19 if required, a notification from state election office here issued by Joint Chief Electoral Officer D J Bhattacharjee informed.

The last date of filing nominations has been fixed on June 9 while scrutiny of papers would be held on June 10.

The last date of withdrawal of papers has been fixed on June 12, the notification said. The election process should be completed by June 22, the notification said adding, polling would be held in the state Legislative Assembly from 9 AM to 4 PM if required.

To conduct the polling process smoothly, legislative Assembly Secretary K Habung has been appointed as the Returning officer by the Commission while Assembly Joint Secretary Agaab Mossang has been appointed as the Assistant Returning Officer.
