ITANAGAR: The Regional| Outreach Bureau (ROB) organized a daylong orientation workshop on “Intensified Mission Indradhanush” for the registered artist troupes of the Song & Drama Division and officials of the Field Outreach Bureaus (FOB) of Arunachal region in collaboration with the Immunization Wing of the State Department of Health & Family Welfare here on Thursday.

In his introductory remarks Director ROB, Itanagar, Dr Keshavamurthy underlined the importance of traditional folk dance/drama and music as a medium of conveying important messages on government programmes and schemes in remote areas/villages in a simple and clear manner.

He thanked the State Immunization Officer Dr Padung and his team for extending all logistical support for this campaign.

In a power point presentation, Dr Padung stated that the immunization coverage in the State is 70 per cent and efforts are being made to reach 90 per cent of the target groups by way of extensive campaign under the Intensified Mission Indradhanush Prog 2.0 launched from December 2, 2019.

He sought the help of song & drama troupes in reaching out to the 30 per cent of target groups not covered so far by way of infotainment during the 3rd and 4th round of IMI 2.0 beginning from February 3 and March 2.

He stated that nearly 61 per cent of children are missing vaccination due to information gap and apprehension caused by adverse events following immunization and also due to some misconception about the effect of immunization on body immunity and infertility.

Allaying fears of parents about few adverse affects of immunization like fever caused by DPT/Pentavalent vaccines, Dr Padung urged the public not to get misled by any media reports and rumours.
