ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 recoveries in Arunachal Pradesh surpassed fresh infections, with 294 more people recuperating from the disease in the past 24 hours, while 105 new infections were reported, a senior Health Department official informed here on Wednesday.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload in the State rose to 63,724, while, 62,178 persons have been cured of the disease thus far, the official said.

The recovery rate among patients marginally improved to 97.57 per cent from 97.27 per cent the previous day, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Of the fresh cases, 26 were reported from the Capital Complex Region, 11 each from East Siang and West Kameng, seven each from Longding and Anjaw, six from Upper Siang and five each from Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri district respectively, he said.

The death toll in the State remained at 292, as no casualty was reported in the past 24 hours, the SSO said.

Among the new cases, 85 were detected through rapid antigen test, 12 through RT-PCR process and 8 through TrueNAT methods, Jampa said, adding that 53 of them have developed COVID-19 symptoms. Arunachal Pradesh currently has 1,254 active cases.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 343, followed by Lower Subansiri at 215, Lohit at 82, Tawang at 81, West Kameng at 79 and East Siang at 72 cases.

A total of 12,51,328 samples have been tested for the infection in the State so far, including 1,273 on Tuesday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate remained at 8.24 per cent.

State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung said as many as 15,97,572 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines so far.

At least 57,170 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated and 19,686 senior citizens received the booster jab.
