Itanagar: President of Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) Lt Gen (Retd) Dr Raj Nandan Singh on Friday stressed on the role of local population in the state in safeguarding the country’s internal and external security.
Delivering his keynote address in a seminar on “National Security and its Challenges” at Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) Pasighat in East Siang district, Singh while highlighting on security scenario of the country, said that awareness of citizens would also contribute to internal and external security for maintaining and promoting peace and progress in the country.
“The raising of Arunachal Scouts in the Indian Army is one of the steps in safeguarding the internal and external security of the country,” he added.
FANS national general secretary (organisation) Golok Bihari Rai in his deliberation spoke on India’s growing stature in the global scenario. He also spoke on India’s role in regional stability and India’s efforts in promoting economic, diplomatic and trade ties with countries including in strengthening age-old cultural ties, an official communique informed.
JNC Principal Dr SD Choudhary in his speech dwelt on various facets challenging the national security like face currency by forces inimical to the interest of the nation.
“The unity and security of the nation is of utmost importance,” Dr Choudhury emphasized.
The seminar was attended by students and faculty members among others, the communique added.
