Rs 65 Crore Under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) For State

Itanagar: The Union Home Ministry has allocated an amount of Rs 65.489 crore (with 10 per cent State’s share) to Arunachal Pradesh for 2019-20, under Border Area Development Programme (BADP). Chief Secretary Satya Gopal informed this while chairing the 36th State level screening committee (SLSC) meeting on BADP held here on Wednesday, an official release informed today.

The Chief Secretary while taking stock of the annual action plan submitted by the deputy commissioners, emphasized on beneficiary oriented projects and doubling income of the farmers through Border Area Development Programme. “Incorporate income generating activities helping an average of 100 beneficiaries in each block of a model village under BADP,” he said.

Stating that schemes should benefit the public and percolate down to them, Gopal said that criteria for selection of beneficiaries should be farmer(s) or families whose income is below Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum, landless labourers, marginal farmers and small farmers.

“For income generating activities avenues in animal husbandry & veterinary, dairy, agriculture and horticulture could be explored,” he suggested.

He also took account of the status of VKVs under BADP in Lazu, Nafra, Mukto, Amliang, Niusa Koloriang and Chayangtajo, the release added.
