ITANAGAR: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Itanagar in an order issued today has declared seven locations and buildings within Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) as containment zones.

The various areas of Gate-I to Gate-II along the National Highway within the boundary of Dolikoto village and DFO colony, Banderdewa, C- Sector, All India Radio colony, Satellite colony, Gandhi market, Nangkar building at C-sector, Yasso building and industry office, ESS sector and Vivek Vihar and areas nearby Arunodaya School has been declared as containment zones in view of COVID-19.

The District Magistrate cum Chairman of DDMA, Komkar Dulom in an order said that there is every possibility of spread of the COVID-19 virus beyond and above locations, if not contained in time.

The containment of the areas was necessary as per the report of the District Medical Officer (DMO), Itanagar as more cases were held to be detected.

According to the order, the entire entry and exit points of the buildings and sectors will be barricaded. No one will be allowed to enter or exit from the area without authorization of the DMO.

The inmates will not be allowed to move out from the locations for a period of 14 days unless permitted by the competent authority. The movement of essential items and other emergency service will be regulated by the police deployed by the SP, ICR.

The DMO has also been ordered to deploy staff for the purpose to oversee the immediate medical needs of the inmates of the said area, as may be required for thermal scanning etc.

It has also been ordered by the DMO to carry out Antigen, RT-PCR or Truenat testing of all the inmates, sanitization of the area and buildings. No public gathering is allowed in the containment areas or buildings.
