Sixty-five Anglers in Eco-Tourism-cum-Angling Festival at Darak

Itanagar: Around 65 anglers from Sikkim, Meghalaya, Itanagar, and West Siang took part in the second day of Eco- Tourism-cum-Angling Festival at Darak on Friday.

The angling competition is supervised by Arunachal Anglers’ Forum led by its president Bengia Tayu to work out the biggest and number of catches for cash awards of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and 10,000 for the first, second and third prizes respectively.

West Siang DC C Chukhu, Chief Engineer T Ronya, district tourism officer TK Kopak and other officers enthusiastically took part in the angling.

The anglers caught rich varieties of fishes and the largest catch is reported to be more than 5 kg and all fishes were released as per angling norms and ethics and sale of fishes are completely banned during the festival.

Commander of Aalo Military Station will give away the prizes.

Day three of the festival will witness sightseeing, hiking, and trekking to a different place of importance like Bengi Liine (Holy Site) at Darak, Penru (Cave Home of Bats) and Taak Soi (Home of Wild Pigeon).

The Department of Fisheries led by DFDO J Chisi also gave a powerpoint presentation on the conservation of fishes and angling methods, an official release informed here on Friday.
