ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Agriculture Tage Taki has alleged that some political parties for their personal benefits are repeatedly inciting the innocent farmers to go against the recent farm sector legislations.

Addressing media persons at the BJP party office here, Taki said that the idea behind the 'Bharat Bandh' and forcing the farmers to go against the revolutionary Farm sector legislations is just to bring in issues against the BJP.

"The Farm sector Acts are for the welfare and benefit of Indian farmers. It's really sad that a few political parties are propagating false ideas about them and forcing the farmers to raise their voices against the legislations," he said.

He said that another reason for agitating against the farm bill is, as of now the 'middle men' will face problems as the farmers can sell their produce wherever they want out of the notified Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).

While condemning the Bharat bandh call, Taki also said that the Bills will have a positive impact on the farmers of entire North-East States and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.

"The Bills are for the betterment, security and benefit of local farmers of the country. Now, the farmers will be provided structural trade agreements for the sale and purchase of farm produce under the Farmers Produce Trades and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020," he said, adding that the bill is related with 'Contract farming'. He furthert said that the protest against the farm Bill is being witnessed only in a few States of the country like Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Whereas, most of the farmers from the rest of the states are welcoming the Bills.

Taki said Arunachal has fertile soil, potential in leading the country in the farm sector. Therefore, by the introduction of 'Contract farming', it will not only generate income and security to the local farmers but also provide protection against price exploitation.

"We have sufficient land in the State which is not used due to financial constraints by the local farmers and entrepreneurs. By contract farming, the farmers can now use their land for generating income under contract farming," said Taki. On the sidelines, Taki also said that the State is capable of the construction of cold storage adding that it the storage will be built in time when the State will have surplus agricultural and horticulture produce to be stored. "As of now we have two cold storages," he said. The State government is committed for the welfare of farmers in Arunachal Pradesh, he added.
