Informing about the plan for starting a cricket academy at RGU, the VC informed that the university would soon launch a talent hunt to identify the vein in which the students would be performers in their chosen specialized fields.

Such commitment is reflected in the start of many sports science disciplines in the university in the last couple of years, including departments like sports physiology, sports psychology, sports biomechanics, strength training and conditioning and the department of physical education offering PhD, PG Diploma and UG programmes.

Although the departments under the faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in RGU are in their maiden years, they have already achieved a coveted status.

The faculty's well designed courses have attracted students who wish to make a career in sports and related fields. This has been made possible due to the untiring efforts of university's highly committed, qualified and experienced faculty. They have integrated teaching and coaching with the latest developments and research in their respective fields and by relating these to real life scenarios they have created a holistic model of learning, Dr Pertin said.
