CHIMPU: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs (SYA) Mama Natung has expressed his satisfaction over the construction of Dorjee Khandu Badminton Academy (DKBA) at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA), here.
The Minister along with SYA Secretary Anirudh Singh, Director SYA, Principal SLSA and a team of Engineers from Urban Development & Technical Wing of Sports Department inspected the construction of DKBA on Friday.
Expressing satisfaction over the quality of work, Natung also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for donating a large area of land for the construction of DKBA in the interest of sports enthusiasts.
He said that the DKBA is the best ever tribute to the former Chief Minister of State Lt. DorjeeKhandu, who is the father of present CM Pema Khandu. Natung also discussed the various issues of land encroachment, boundary walls, protection walls and approach road including a need for Bailey bridge. He directed the Secretary SYA to examine the issues and thus put proposals at earliest.
The academy will be a state of art infrastructure and have seating capacity of 1,000 with 8 badminton courts. It will also have provision of separate boys and girls hostels inside the 20,700 meter square campus.
