ROING: Arunachal Pradesh's Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung on Sunday took stock of the preparedness for the ensuing 5th Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (HDMT) to be held at Lower Dibang Valley district from May 26 to June 4 next.

Mama Natung also called on a review meeting with the local MLA Mutchu Mithi and district administration to discuss on the physical progress of works, accommodation of participants and other technical aspects.

Natung told reporters that the HDMT was skipped for few years because of the global pandemic, Covid-19. However, this year the Lower Dibang Valley district will be hosting the event.

Natung said that his visit was to ensure that all the facilities from proper playground, accommodation and other logistics is being taken care of by the district administration.

"The work is satisfactory and I believe the district administration and the locals will make the event most happening. I have also appealed to the DC to involve locals in various other works for a successful week-long championship," he said.

Natung also suggested the DA to include activities to create more awareness on Drug abuse with the theme 'Drugs Choro Khel Mein Jodo'.

Earlier on the day, Natung inspected the work progress of Indoor Badminton Hall, Roing and the under-construction outdoor stadium at Tezu. Natung instructed the contractor for early completion of the stadium.

Ensuring every possible help from the locals for a successful programme, local MLA Mutchu Mithi has appealed to the Minister for a Sports Complex in the district.

He also appealed to de-reserve the forest of Kurunu Abango village area for the greater interest of the villagers.

Meanwhile, DC Soumya Sourah, while highlighting the preparation, said that every aspect from accommodation, maintenance of ground, medical facilities, transportation of players and food etc., is being looked into.

She said that a District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) has been set up to look into the daily progress of work. However, the director of sports will be addressing all the matters relating technical works.

"We are also involving all the line departments to make sure that best facilities are being provided the players. We are expecting for a successful seven days program in the district," she added.
