‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ Organized by Lower Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh

ROING: Commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ programme was organized by the Lower Dibang Valley district administration on Wednesday.

It started with a procession by school children and culminated in a ceremony to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Park, Roing.

It was followed by awareness programme on cleanliness and importance of obeying traffic rules by children of Nani Maria School, Roing and a mass cleanliness drive/social service throughout Roing town and circles with waste segregation at source.

Lower Dibang valley DC Mitali Namchoom advised all to create a plastic-free environment and keep the surroundings clean and green. She urged all to collect waste, segregate the waste at source/home itself, compost the compostable waste and send plastic waste to be recycled.

SP SK Sain and EE(UD) Taban Tabing also spoke on the occasion.

A 3-month long campaign ‘Angikaar’ – a change management campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana) was launched on the day.

DOIMUKH: Doimukh legislator Tana Hali Tara along with Papum Pare DC Pige Ligu, officers, staffs, Bazar Welfare Committees, NDRF, police personnel, youths, school children and public participated in the mass ‘Swachchta Hi Seva’ – Plastic Mukt Bharat campaign in Doimukh town.The event was organized by the Urban Development and Planning department in collaboration with the district administration on Wednesday.

At the very outset, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. While addressing the occasion, MLA Tana Hali called upon people to give their full support to make the ‘Plastic Mukt Bharat’ campaign a success in the district.

He also spoke about the hazardous effects of plastic pollution and its impact on the environment.

DC Pige Ligu administered the pledge of a plastic-free Papum Pare to all participants. To mark the day, social services were also conducted at district headquarter Yupia by officers and staffs in their respective offices and across all administrative centres in Papum Pare district.
