ITANAGAR: Tawang district Deputy Commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo, along with ZPC Leki Gombu and other officers of the border district, visited Damteng village and lauded the bonhomie between Army and civil population in the border village.

Interacting with the villagers and Army personnel, the DC asked the villagers to continue the cordial relations with Army and paramilitary forces stationed in the area, while also asking the Army authorities to provide all possible help and assistance to locals.

The DC expressed his happiness for Damteng coming up as good tourist spot due to hot water spring and holy waterfalls.

Remembering his posting as Circle Officer of Thingbu in early 1990s, he said that those days he used to visit the place on foot and there were only few houses of which most were of Brokpas (yak grazers).

"Now Damteng area has grown into a small town and efforts should be made to develop the border villages with all facilities in order to stop migration to urban areas," he added.

The DC, accompanied by Commander of 40 Brigade, Abbot of Tawang Monastery Gyabung Tulku with monks and other officers, visited the holy water falls (Chumig Gyatse) on Wednesday and attended consecration rites of Guru Padmasambhava statue and discussed plans with army authorities for further development of tourist spot.

He assured the Army of every possible support and cooperation from civil administration and people of the district to secure the border, an official communiqué said here.
