ITANAGAR: Khando Drowa Sangmo District Hospital in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh has been selected as the best Kayakalp district hospital in the state, while the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Ruksin in East Siang district has won the best CHC in the state award. The state-level award ceremony under quality assurance of the National Health Mission (NHM) was organised at a city hotel here on Sunday, which was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang, MLA Nyamar Karbak, and officers of the health department. As many as 12 of the best primary health centres (PHCs) from different districts were also selected and awarded certificates. The PHCs that were selected for the award include Yagrung (East Siang), Jeying (Upper Siang), Singchung (West Kameng), Darak (West Siang), Walong (Anjaw), Kamhua Noknu (Longding), Lhou (Tawang), Tarasso (Papum Pare), Piyong (Namsai), Khimiyong (Changlang), Rakap Colony (state Capital), and Dharampur in Namsai district, respectively.

A commendation award was also given to health facilities that achieved 70 in external assessment under Kayakalp. The health facilities selected for commendation awards include Bakin Pertin General Hospital (East Siang), District Hospital Yingkiong in Upper Siang, CHCs Kalaktang in West Kameng, Kamba (West Siang), Yomcha (West Siang), Jang (Tawang), Lumla (Tawang), Sagalee (Papum Pare), Yazali (Lower Subansiri), Mahadevpur (Namsai), besides PHCs including Rani, Sille, and Bilat in East Siang, Bagra (West Siang), and Mukto in Tawang district. The Kayakalp award carries cash prizes of Rs 50 lakh for the best district hospital, Rs 15 lakh for the best CHC, and Rs 2 lakh for the best PHC, among others.

In the commendation award, the best district hospital gets a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, CHC Rs 1 lakh, and PHC Rs 50,000, respectively, the sources added. Speaking on the occasion, Libang congratulated the health facilities for achieving the certification and praised all the health workers for their dedication and hard work. He exhorted the health workers to improve the quality of services.
