TAWANG: Thousands of people joined the mass peace rally against an "illegal" construction held here on Monday. Addressing the media, the chairman of the 'Joint Action Committee' (JAC) Namgey Tsering stated, "The mass rally is not against any particular community or religion but against any illegal construction in Tawang. We will oppose any illegal construction whether it is a gompa, temple, church or any other structures. It is not against any particular religion. However, the matter is being differently interpreted by people, he added.

Months earlier, Tawang Police had arrested the pastor of Revival Church Joseph Singhi based on an FIR lodged by the district land revenue and survey officer, allegedly for illegally constructing the church.
