ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 16,827 on Friday as three more people, including an Army Jawan, tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said.
The fresh cases were reported in the Capital Complex region, West Kameng and Changlang districts, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Barring one the rest infected people are asymptomatic, the official said adding, all the fresh cases were detected through rapid antigen tests.
Three people recuperated from the disease on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 16,756, he said.
The recovery rate in the State has touched 99.57 per cent, while the positivity stands at 0.08 per cent and the fatality rate at 0.33 per cent.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 15 active COVID-19 cases, while 56 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
The Capital Complex Region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — and West Kameng have the maximum number of active cases at five each, the SSO said.
As many as 3,91,275 sample tests have been conducted so far, including 640 on Thursday, he added.
State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 15,741 health workers have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far including 8,654 on Thursday.
A total of 196 vaccination sessions were organized in the State on Thursday with a target of 13,756 people. However, 8,654 were inoculated during the day while the rest could not be given the jab due to various reasons as many were pregnant and lactating mothers while some remained absent, the official said.
The health department has been carrying out the inoculation drive four days a week — Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, he said
Seven persons reportedly developed after effects following immunization, the SIO noted.
The State has received a total of 32,000 doses of Covishield vaccines from the Centre until now.
