ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government will soon establish a War Museum and a War Memorial in Itanagar to pay tribute to the 'unsung heroes' for Anglo-Khamti War, Anglo-Abor Wars and the Ninu Wancho-Anglo War.

While addressing a meeting of the Core Committee and Research Team of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) at the State Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said that people and this state should celebrate its unsung heroes by providing them tribute.

"We will honour the unsung heroes of our state on Statehood Day. During the celebration we will arrange different programmes including workshops and photo exhibition", he said.

He also informed that his government will submit the documents related the state's unsung heroes for the National Tribal Freedom Fighter's Museum situated in Gujarat.

On December 20, the next review meeting will be held.

As per sources, during the meeting researchers of RGU will submit a report of their documentation.

The state has so far identified 15 unsung heroes, 100 freedom fighters, and 64 martyrs belonging to various communities of the state.

Earlier in 2021, the state government formed an unsung heroes core committee to carry out research on their contribution of the nation's freedom struggle.

The Manipur Government will honour unsung tribal heroes of the state who had fought against British rule and were martyred in the freedom struggle. The CM was speaking as a chief guest at the one-day national dialogue on 'Tribal Heroes in India's Freedom Struggle' organised by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.
