ITANAGAR: Security forces in Arunachal Pradesh, during a joint operation, apprehended two overground workers (OGW) of NSCN-KYA at Rusa village in Longding district on Saturday. One pistol along with 17 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the individual, a defence communiqué informed here on Sunday. Based on intelligent inputs, the Assam Rifles, along with Longding police, carried out a joint operation in the area and launched a thorough search at a hideout, which led to the apprehension of two rebels from the outfit.

The arrested persons, along with the recovered items, were then handed over to Longding police station for further investigation. However, the identities of the arrested cadres have not been revealed. A similar joint operation was also launched and apprehended two active overground workers of NSCN K (YA) in Khanu village in Tirap District of the north-eastern state on April 16. Two mobile handsets, a sword, and a few incriminating documents were recovered from their possession.
