ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested four drug peddlers including two policemen, from the state capital and recovered heroin from their possession, a senior police official said here on Saturday.

Based on inputs on the selling of drugs by one person from Poma, near here, the Capital Police apprehended two persons near Rama Krishna Mission Hospital here on Thursday and recovered heroin weighing 91.69 grams from their possession, Capital SP Jimmy Chiram informed.

The arrested persons were identified as Teli Topu Camdir from Rakap Village under the Balijan circle of Papum Pare district and Tage Lai from Mudang Village in Lower Subansiri district.

After interrogation of the duo, they revealed the name of two policemen as their source, the SP said adding, the police team verified the information and nabbed head constable Satya Pal Singh of state police and Constable Tamchi Joseph of 4th IRBn, who were deployed in the state capital.

Police also seized a Mahindra Bolero used for delivery of drugs and a case amount of 32,000 from their possession.

A case has been registered at Itanagar police state under NDPS Act "Itanagar SDPO K Sikom, police station officer in charge Inspector P Simi, Inspector T Tasso and the team had done excellent work in identifying and nabbing the men involved in the drug trade," the SP said.

Chiram added that the Capital police are working tirelessly in the war against drugs and any person involved in the drug trade would not be spared.

He urged the capital dwellers to support the police in the fight against drugs by giving information on drug supply and helping drug abuse victims.

Efforts are being made to identify other suppliers, the SP added.
