ITANAGAR: Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has assured a delegation from Arunchal Pradesh that he will visit the State to inaugurate the 'Centre of Excellence for Bio Resources and Sustainable Development' at Kimin in Papumpare district.
The Minister gave this assurance to a delegation comprising Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology Chairman Bamang Mangha, Director C.D. Mungyak, Science & Technology Director H.K. Dutta, State Remote Sensing Application Centre's joint directors Bamang Apo and Tana Tage led by Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao and Rajya Sabha member Nabam Rebia when the members called on the Minister at New Delhi on February 4.
During the meeting, the MPs expressed their gratitude for the initiatives taken for Arunachal Pradesh to develop the Science & Technology sectors and helping the State in harnessing its vast natural resources.
The meeting also discussed about the creation of 'Earth Sciences Division' under the Science & Technology Department of the State government for scientific research activities in mines and minerals, geotechnical laboratory, natural hazards, and an all -weather station, official sources informed here.
They also requested the Union Minister of Science & Technology & Earth Sciences to take up the pending projects and new proposals under the Ministry to which Vardhan assured them that he would give his personal attention to ensure that early sanctions are accorded to the projects.
Earlier, Mangha apprised the Minister on the status of various ongoing projects being taken up by the Science & Technology Council in the State, added the sources.
